The legendary singer’s $50 million fragrance, “Crazy Love,” was one of the priciest in 2017.
But the fragrance was never marketed as a perfume because of its controversial name.
“Crazy love” was a brand name given to the perfume, which was inspired by Taylor’s relationship with a wealthy New York businessman.
She said it’s the first time a fragrance named after her name has been marketed as “crazier.”
It was the only perfume in the 2017 catalog to not be named after the artist, but that didn’t stop Taylor from receiving backlash on social media.
“People think it’s a great name, but I don’t know if it’s that,” she said.
Some of Taylor’s friends were upset about the name.
“You know what I love?
A beautiful, beautiful person,” said one.
“I like the fact that they didn’t go out of their way to make it a name that I couldn’t use because it was a little too outrageous for me.”
Taylor said she’s not sure if the backlash was deserved.
“The reaction that I got was not just from the critics, it was from all of the celebrities who are in the same position,” she added.
“That’s a huge compliment to a lot of them.
But at the same time, I feel that the backlash is fair and that I should have done better.”
She said she hopes the backlash doesn’t dissuade others from buying her perfume.
